Summary: The goal of this joint project of the applicant institutes and business partners is to define a model for the commercializing of streamed information like video and audio and to develop a demonstrator application that will allow commercialization on a pay-per-use basis over broadcast networks, while safeguarding intellectual property rights. The project will integrate the results in a component-oriented reference model for integrated electronic commerce solutions.
This joint project builds on the applicants' prior successful projects under SPP-ICS, in particular phase 1 of the Electronic Commerce Competence Network, and is an application-oriented synthesis of the results achieved there. Dr. Dimitri Konstantas (CUI University of Geneva) is the overall project leader.
The following work packages are defined and timeframed:
P1 Specification for video streaming (CUI University of Geneva)
P2 Prototype design (CUI University of Geneva)
P3 Implementation of secure video streaming (CUI University of Geneva)
P4 Implementation of bandwidth reservation (IAM University of Bern)
P5 Implementation of payment mechanisms (LSE EPFL)
P6 Integration (CUI University of Geneva)
P7 Test and evaluation (CUI University of Geneva)
M1 Component identification for electronic commerce in information streams (mcm University of St. Gallen)
M2 Modelling the business process for information stream applications (ICA EPFL)
M3 Generalization of the business model in a total component architecture (mcm University of St. Gallen, ICA EPFL)
